Get your home holiday ready……….CYBER MONDAY!!!!

Who says the best deals are on Black Friday? Cyber Monday has some pretty great deals………and, nothing beats shopping in your PJ’s!!!!!

For my hostesses this holiday season, now is a great time to freshen up your home with a new rug and accessories. Budget permitting, a new piece of furniture would definitely elevate any room.  I really love the way a bar cart looks; it is so chic and grown up!!  Check out the Dwell Studio Connaught Bar Cart.  How could you not feel glamorous pouring a drink from this cart?  However, If you only bought one new piece of furniture this year, I would recommend the Jonathan Adler’s Delphine mirrored side board.  There is something special about mirrored furniture, it really adds sparkle to any room!

Best BLACK FRIDAY sales!!!

As one who never goes out on Black Friday, I search for online deals to start my holiday shopping.  Below,  I’ve listed some of my favorite sites to shop on.

This is also a great time to advantage of the Black Friday sales for big ticket items like furniture and appliances.

Typically, there are three times per year to save big on furniture and appliances:  January, August and Black Friday.

Ok, here are the BEST of the best:

Jonathan Adler:

20% off all in store and online purchases with code TGIBF

I love, love, love JA…..his stuff is so chic, fun and glamorous.  He takes whimsical to a whole new level!

EVERYONE needs something JA in their home!!

Lulu and Georgia:

Online discounts of 20% off $250, 25% off $500, 30% off $1000 with codes GIVEME20, GIVEME25, and GIVEME30 sale good through Monday, the 30th.

This site is one of my absolute favorites! I’ve purchased art, accessories, lamps, rugs and furniture  and I have never been disappointed!! A great resource for all things stylish!!

Target:

30% off on furniture, decor and rugs.

Tar-jay is a treasure trove of great deals on accent tables, counter stools and accent chairs.  They have a vast array of pieces to choose from on their website.  I have used pieces from Target for client’s homes for years.  You would be shocked at how nice a lot of their pieces are!

West Elm:

10% off on orders of $100 or more, 25% off orders of $1000 or more with code MOREISMORE

My favorite place to go for fun accent pieces.  I also love their modern furniture.  However, a lot of their furniture is geared toward apartment dwellers, so pieces run small.  In addition,  their average pillow size is 18×18 which is dwarfed on a 96″ sofa.  Pay special attention to the dimensions of each piece.

Restoration Hardware:

$100 off $500 or more.  Use code SAVE100.  Sale ends Tuesday, Dec 1st.

Although this is not a massive savings because of the high price point of most RH items, it is not often that RH runs site wide sales. This type of sale is great for buying yourself a whole new set of bath towels or sheets.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends! Unlike New Year’s, which focuses on what’s ahead, Thanksgiving allows us to reflect upon and appreciate our life and all we have at this very moment.  It is a day centered around the concept of gratitude.   On this day we have enough.

It is my hope for you that at some point today you are able to sit in a nice comfortable chair with a glass of wine, and ruminate on and give thanks for all of the blessings in your life!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fab (and affordable) Hostess Gifts!!!

The Emily Post Institute states ‘Dinner party guests usually bring a hostess gift unless they are close friends who dine together frequently’.  My close friends know that I am a stickler for etiquette. Therefore, if Emily Post says that one must bring a hostess gift to dinner, then who am I to say otherwise?

If you are a guest this Thanksgiving, I put together some fab and affordable items that will standout from the usual hostess gifts of candles and wine.  Inevitably, another guest will be bringing a bottle of wine.  Why not showcase your originality and bring a wine chiller?  These pretty matches from Illume will be perfect for lighting the 10 candles the other guests brought!

What glam girl would not want to drink wine from a sparkly wine glass, or let you know how fab you are on Chanel inspired note cards?  And, let’s not forget our hunky hosts; the black and gold lowball is very ‘Hollywood Regency’ at a nominal price.  Going to a neighbor’s house?  No problem; your hostess will love slathering this amazing smelling, luxe hand cream after she has finished washing the mountain of dishes left over from Thanksgiving.

I would love to know what your favorite hostess gifts are!!! Also, I have already received lots of requests for blog topics.  Please keep them coming!! Let me know what you want to see more of.  Thanks for reading!! Xoxo

What is your table wearing this Thanksgiving?

If you are entertaining this Thanksgiving, I am sure you made your shopping list, cleaned your home, ordered your desserts, chose your and your kids’ outfits, bought your liquor………BUT, have you thought about your Thanksgiving tablescape?  Every great restaurant knows that we eat first with our eyes!!  There is an art to food presentation (this is a whole other post).

Think about how you would like to present your table to your guests.  Do you have an array of textures and colors?  Is your tablescape narrow enough to fit your china and stemware?   Do you have multiple sources of lighting to create mood?

Below, I created two tablescapes to give you a little inspiration for Turkey Day.  In the first tablescape, I mixed high and low elements.  The tall hurricanes are still short enough so people can chat across the table from one another.  I love mixing textures; the twig pumpkins play nicely against the shiny hurricanes and gold bordered runner.  I threw some faux foliage in to create a festive table.  In the second tablescape, I used a tall centerpiece with a muted pumpkin, rusted base and colorful foliage.  I pared that with metallic geometric candlesticks and again, added scattered leaves on top of the burlap runner. Varied heights and textures create a visually interesting arrangement.  I kept these layouts simple so you can pull them off in a hurry. All of the pieces I used are from Pottery  Barn, Crate & Barrel, Pier 1 and West Elm (all places you can run to for last minute shopping).  Let me know what you think, and what your favorite tabletop decorations are.

Tomorrow I will post great hostess gifts if you will be a guest for Thanksgiving.

Cozy & Serene Family Room

image

This room exudes serenity.  The grasscloth wallpaper gives the room a cocoon like feel, and the velvet chairs and faux fur pillow lend texture to the room. With all of the natural light, the painted bookcases and ebony cocktail table serve as visual anchors.  The reflective surfaces of the lamps and stool will beautifully reflect the flickering light of the fireplace.

Who wouldn’t want to curl up in this room with a glass of wine and a (design) mag?
